Overview
Roburna Forest tracks reforestation projects across multiple regions, translating raw sensor and survey data into a dashboard donors and partners can actually understand.
The goal was trust through transparency: every number on the dashboard traces back to a verifiable data source.
The Challenge
Impact reporting in this space is often vague by necessity. We needed to be specific without overwhelming a non-technical audience.
- Underlying data came from inconsistent regional sources
- Non-technical donors needed metrics, not raw datasets
- Trust required visible provenance, not just polished charts
Approach
We built a normalization layer for regional data feeds and designed the dashboard around a handful of headline metrics with drill-down detail available on demand.
- Standardized ingestion pipeline across regional data partners
- Headline metrics surfaced first, detail available on click
- Every stat links back to its source dataset
Before & After
Before
Impact updates were shared as periodic PDF reports with no live view.
- Static quarterly reports
- No source traceability
- Manual data compilation
After
A live public dashboard updated automatically as new field data arrives.
- Real-time public dashboard
- Traceable data sources
- Automated ingestion pipeline
Outcomes
The dashboard is now the primary reporting surface shown to funding partners.
- Reporting turnaround dropped from weeks to real time
- Donor renewal conversations now reference the live dashboard directly
- Regional teams gained a shared source of truth for field data
Reflection
Traceability turned out to be more persuasive than polish — donors trusted a plainer dashboard with visible sources over a prettier one without them.
